The sad reality of the modern discourse over abortion has attempted to remove the act of abortion from the terms of theology and instead move it into the realm of some form of personal rights or personal autonomy. This paper examines the arguments of abortion activists, including one of the original abortion activists, Margaret Sanger. These arguments will be held against theological understandings of the Church Fathers, the Bible, and current Bishops. The goal is to understand the theological underpinnings of the act of abortion and understand the ramifications of such an act.
